The Futurist NYC Privacy Policy

The Futurist NYC, Inc. (“Futurist NYC", "we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting the privacy of those who entrust us with their Personal Information. "Personal Information" means any information pertaining to an identified or identifiable individual and may include, for example, email addresses, contact details and any similar information provided to us during our business operations. This Privacy Policy details our commitment to your privacy.

What does this Privacy Policy cover?
This Privacy Policy applies to print, digital, live events, products, services, our websites, podcasts, and other online and mobile services, The Futurist NYC content, services and publications; live editorial events and podcasts we host; thefuturist.nyc, futureideasoftheyear.com, thefuture.nyc, jakandmac.com, and any other site or service that posts or links to this Privacy Policy (collectively, the "Services"). By using or visiting the Services or otherwise interacting with us, you are accepting the practices described in this Privacy Policy. We recommend that you review this Privacy Policy periodically, as it may be updated from time-to-time.
What type of information do we collect, and how is it used and shared?
Our company is hosted on the Wix.com platform. Wix.com provides us with the online platform that allows us to sell our products and services to you. Your data may be stored through Wix.com’s data storage, databases and the general Wix.com applications. They store your data on secure servers behind a firewall.
The categories of Personal Information we collect include:
1. Information that you provide to us. This may include contact information such as name, address, email address, and phone number that you provide to us as part of your use of our services. This also may include correspondence with use relating to your use of our Services.
2. Registration data, such as information you provide when you register for any of our Services.
3. Marketing data, such as information related to your preferences for receiving communications, subscribing to our newsletters, and other content relating to our Services.
4. Communications, such as information you provide when you send us an email, request for information, or otherwise correspond with us.
5. Recruitment or job application information. This may include information such as name, address, and phone number, or information on a resume or curriculum vitae.
6. Transaction data, such as your order history, products, and services you have purchased, subscription records, and information needed to process and fulfill your order, including your order details and delivery address.

Please note that a third-party payment processor is responsible for all collection, processing, and storage of your Financial Information; at no time do we have direct access to or possession of any payment card information. All direct payment gateways offered by Wix.com and used by its company adhere to the standards set by PCI-DSS as managed by the PCI Security Standards Council, which is a joint effort of brands like Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover. PCI-DSS requirements help ensure the secure handling of credit card information by our store and its service providers.
8. Other information that we collect which is not specifically listed here, but which we will use in accordance with this Privacy Policy or as otherwise disclosed at the time of collection.
We use the Personal Information as part of our business operations, including:
1. To allow our users to access various aspects of our Services, to communicate with and respond to our users about our Services, or to meet legal obligations, and provide you with the products, promotions, services, newsletters, and information you request. We may share this information with our affiliates and select service providers and partners that perform services for us (such as hosting the Services or providing other customer service functions).
2. To consider you for an employment position or to respond to an employment inquiry.
3. Third-Party Service Providers their agents and vendors perform functions on our behalf, including, but not limited to, hosting, social media integration, marketing, analytics, content management tools, content syndication, billing, and customer services. When you register for or attend one of our live events, we may share the information you provide at registration with our event partners or underwriters. These third parties may use your information to provide you with information about their own products and services. 6. Social Media Services. If you log into the Services with a social media service or if you connect a social media account with the Services, we may share information about you or your activities on that social media service, including what you view on our websites and applications, with that social media service and/or its users. Social media services will use that information based on their own privacy policies. If you do not want your information shared in this way, do not connect your social media service account with our Services.
7. Business Transferees. We may sell, transfer, or otherwise share some or all of your personal information in connection with or during negotiation of any merger, financing, acquisition or dissolution, transaction or proceeding involving sale, transfer, divestiture, or disclosure of all or a portion of our business or assets, or in the event of an insolvency, bankruptcy, or receivership.

9. For Compliance, Fraud Prevention and Safety. We may share your personal information for the compliance, fraud prevention and safety purposes. To comply with laws, Futurist NYC may also disclose specific Personal Information when such disclosure appears necessary to comply with applicable law, a subpoena while managing a dispute, governmental inquiry, or other litigation process. By using our Services, you are accepting the practices described in our Privacy Policy including the use of cookies and similar online tools. Futurist NYC protects your Personal Information where applicable. Futurist NYC uses reasonable and appropriate technology in connection with the Services to help protect Personal Information. However, you should know that no website operator, including Futurist NYC, can fully eliminate security risks associated with Personal Information and the confidentiality of any communication or material transmitted to/from the Services or via email cannot be guaranteed.
Futurist NYC may, subject to applicable laws, use Personal Information from users of our Services to contact them about our Services, including to provide them with information on additional products or services from Futurist NYC that may be of interest to them. Our Services are not directed toward children, and we do not knowingly solicit or collect Personal Information online from children under the age of 13 without prior verifiable parental consent. If Futurist NYC learns that a child under the age of 13 has submitted Personal Information online without parental consent, we will take all reasonable measures to delete such information from our databases and to not use such information for any purpose (except where necessary to protect the safety of the child or others as required or allowed by law.) In some cases, Personal Information that we process of users located in various countries, including in Canada, the EU, and Switzerland or relative to queries or visitors to the Services may be transferred to the United States or other countries that may not have data privacy laws that provide the same protection as the countries where you reside. You understand and expressly agree that your Personal Information may therefore be transferred, processed, and stored outside your country of residence, and therefore may be available to government authorities under lawful orders and laws applicable in such foreign jurisdictions.
Futurist NYC will review and update its Privacy Policy as required to keep current with rules and regulations, new technologies, and security standards. We will post those changes on the Services and/or update the Privacy Policy modification. In certain cases, and if the changes are material, we will provide written notice to users directly by email or otherwise. This policy is effective January 21, 2024.
