Founder, Mary McGuinness
Mary has been a journalist and strategic futures analyst for 20+ years. Before launching The Futurist NYC, she was a consultant at Ogilvy & Mather. Prior, she was Co-owner and EVP of strategic futures agency Sputnik and Cofounding Director of Sputnik Observatory, a not-for-profit cultural institute and Webby Award Honoree.
As a journalist, Mary has had the pleasure of conducting original, filmed interviews with notable figures, ranging from entrepreneurs and venture capitalists, to scientists, academics and space mavericks. As a strategic futures analyst, Mary has advised numerous multinationals on how best to anticipate tomorrow's agenda. Past clients include Ogilvy/Samsung, Ogilvy/IBM, DuPont, Johnson & Johnson, IFF, Philips Design, Cargill, Unilever, Coca-Cola, Pepsi Cola, Nissan, GM and Toyota, among others.
Mary's expertise in foresight and publishing led her to launch TF, an independent American media company that looks through the lens of the future to report on the ideas, trends and predictions shaping business and society. TF produces TF Originals, an interview podcast; The Prediction Paper, a bimonthly bulletin; Future Ideas of the Year, an annual digest; and TF Magazine, an online quarterly publication.
Mary attended the University of Oxford, Hertford College, and earned her Bachelor of Arts in Literature & Rhetoric from Binghamton University. She's an avid cycler, an Ivory Snow baby, and her mother was a fan of alliteration.
